Christmas Challenge

I have joined a Christmas challenge on Amanda's Blog I Love Cloth Dolls. For the month of June, the challenge was to create something for your Christmas tree made from any medium that takes your fancy. I made a Vintage Christmas bauble, made from a variety of mediums, Material being the primary medium. Has been fun, now I have to think about what I am going to do for July.

Salvaged

Project finished finally. Have been working on this one for a little while and could not find the colours that I wanted frustrating when suppliers don't have what you want, so she has not come out the way I had anticipated. So she is a queen bee with her Angelina Jolie/Pitt lips and a very sick baby bee. Well, i guess practice makes perfect, I am glad to get it finished. The pattern is from Back Porch Pickings, Have not done anywhere near the justice that it deserves.

Reversable Purse

Well, i tried out the new pattern, it would be nice for a child maybe something to carry their things in, or maybe something to put your knitting into if you are going out and want to knit. Well, I'm I'll find something to do with it.

Some fabrics I picked up recently, just wondering what I can make with them. I wanted to try out a new pattern that I have come by recently; I thought it might look quite nice.

Lace

I have been wanting to try making lace with my embroidery machine for a long time, so yesterday I downloaded a couple of free samples of Sue Box Creations embroidery for my Janome machine and here is the result I am extremely satisfied with the outcome. I can see this being sewn onto one of my dolls with a bit of bead work on it as well, of course, i think I will age it a bit.

Finally finished my first primitive bunny.

I am making the carrots that go with my Prim Bunny. Finished the sculpting of the carrots just waiting for the fabric stiffener to dry so I can put the final touches on them. It's like watching the grass grow, hurry up!

Here is a close up of the table runner.

Sewing

Found one of my very first. Hmmm, I made this table runner for Christmas one year and it is now one of those I suppose you could call a traditional family heirloom now that comes out every Christmas. I got it from a Handmade magazine a few years ago, not 100% sure which one will have to look for it. Never throw away any magazines. Would be happy to try it in different Christmas colours so that when I change my colour theme for the year I still have the runner in different colours.

Here is a close up of my bunny. She was stained with Parisian Essence and hung out to dry.

The current project that I am working on is a Primitive Bunny from Sun Valley Primitives. I found this bunny in the Handmade magazine. Thought she was cute and it would be a good one to start my journey with Primitives.

Inspiration

Today I've been surfing the internet, discovering the vast range of dolls styles that are around. I found a couple of really great artists at Primitive Gathering. I would love to be able to create gorgeous dolls like they do. I have been working on ideas for dolls and experimenting; I've loaded a picture of a couple that I have made over the years. Shamus and The Little Mermaid. The Mermaid was my very first doll that I had ever made.

The Beginning

This is day one of the beginning of the dream that I have had for a very long time, to start putting my creative ideas to use and create something that will bless others and hopefully to one day generate an income doing what I love. I love making dolls, cross stitching, really if you put the word craft to anything, then I like doing it. I also love decorating, so I am going to try and combine all of these interests and see what I come up with. Day one and I have already designed my first doll. When I have constructed it, I will put up the photo.
